The ROUNDDOWN function in Excel returns a number rounded down to a specified number of places. Unlike on other functions, ROUNDDOWN rounds all numbers down. This is demonstrated in the examples below.
Syntax:
=ROUNDDOWN(number,num_digits)
Arguments:
- number – Number to round.
- num_digits – The number of digits the number is to be rounded down.
Digits | Behavior |
>0 | Round down to nearest .1, .01, .001, .0001 etc. |
<0 | Round down to nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000 etc. |
=0 | Round down to nearest 1 |
